Who are we?

A Canada-wide initiative and fact-finding mission organized by Women in Tech World, as part of their quest to elevate women in tech.

Women in Tech World is a grassroots, volunteer run organization committed to empowering and celebrating women of all ages in tech.

Over the last 2 years, we have coordinated over 25 events across North America, ranging from skills workshops and industry panels to tech summits and awards receptions.

Women In Tech World is based out of Vancouver, BC - Canada’s #1 Tech Startup Ecosystem. Since 2016, we have grown our team from 10 to 140 outstanding volunteers, and enjoyed incredible support from our community and industry partners in North America’s biggest tech cities. Now we want to meet women in tech-enabled professions from every corner of Canada.

Where are we going?

Our goal is to visit 50 communities, reach 10,000 people, and engage local tech communities to better understand the real experiences faced by women in tech in Canada.

Host your city

We will be driving from BC to Newfoundland, stopping in 50+ communities along the way. The trip will take us eight weeks to complete, starting in Vancouver this September. Stay tuned for our full roadtrip map, to be launched July 1st.

Why is this important?

Our KickStarter

We are living in an increasingly tech-enabled world, which means that there are more and more jobs opening up in the tech sector. Problem is, while the Computer Science workforce has grown by 60% since 1991, the percentage of young women going into the industry has declined (Stats Canada 2011). And this isn't a matter of education or preferences:

As reported in Macleans, "Despite an increase in women with STEM degrees, the percentage of women working in the fields has barely changed in almost 30 years."
