Join us: Monday, October 30, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. ADT at Startup Zone, 31 Queen Street in Charlottetown. The evening will be filled with opportunities to network, share stories and have some fun.

The agenda:

  • 5:30-6:00 p.m. – Networking
  • 6:00-6:30 p.m. – Panel of Trailblazing Women in Tech
  • 6:30-7:50 p.m. – Research Activities: Community Conversation
  • 7:50-8:00 p.m. – Closing Questions + Next Steps

This free event is for anyone who self-identifies as a woman working in the tech industry or has recently left the field in the past five years. Allies or advocates of women in tech and stakeholders in the tech industry are also welcome.

We want to define who women in the tech industry are, understand their experiences and come up with practices for promotion of women in the field. This will lead to a national report exploring the barriers, challenges, successes and resources for Canadian women in tech.

Everyone knows that we are living in an increasingly tech-enabled world. Not surprisingly, this is reflected in the number of jobs that are now available in the tech industry. The problem is, while the Computer Science workforce has grown by 60% since 1991, the percentage of young women going into the industry has declined (Stats Canada 2011). This needs to change.
